In Loving Memory ~
On Tuesday June 28, 2022 we lost a husband, father, Papa and friend. Alex Millar was born in Lasswade Scotland June 1944. He was a hard worker from the age of 13. At age 15 at the Regal dance hall in Bonnyrigg he met the love of his life Jessie (Janet) Burnett. They were married in June, having just had their 59th anniversary. Shortly after getting married they moved to Canada.
Alex's strong work ethic continued through Eurocan then Methanex till he retired. In the 70s they moved to Kitimat BC and started a family. Alex introduced his son Paul to sports and even coached his soccer team. Alex took Rachel fishing and passed on his love of music to her, many times Alex would belt out songs from Meatloaf on the way to the river.
Alex loved the outdoors and passed this love on to both his kids. Alex was a very much hands on Papa. You could hear Mark and his papa joking about something or Papa listening to Robert. Alex spent his retired years fishing with his best friend Norio and after visiting family in Scotland for 15 months and wanting a warmer climate, Alex dreamed of enjoying the rest of his days in the Okanagan, visiting wineries, gardening and bass fishing.
Sadly Alex didn't get a chance before getting diagnosed with leukemia but what time he had here, Alex enjoyed sitting outside listening to the quail and making new friends. Alex loved hearing others' life experiences as well as sharing his. We as a family want to thank those who came to visit and help us since Alex's diagnosis.
