Western Forest Products Inc., Mainland Coast Forest Operation (MCFO), gives notice and invites written comment on the proposed MCFO North Coast Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP), within the Coast Mountain and North Island Central Coast Natural Resource Districts. The FSP includes areas in the vicinity of Bella Bella, Bella Coola, Klemtu and Kitimat.
The FSP map shows the location of the Forest Development Unit, which is associated with Results, Strategies and Measures that the FSP Holder must follow, consistent with the Forest and Range Practices Act and associated regulations.
When approved by the Ministry of Forests, this FSP will form the basis for future development of roads and cutblocks. Road and cutting permits are subsequently issued by government, which provide the authority to build roads and harvest timber. The FSP also contains the standards by which future forests will be managed.
