Caledonia Senior Secondary School in Terrace visited Rio Tinto’s plant on April 19. The class, which is studying earth sciences, had a presentation on the types of raw materials used in the aluminium making process, how aluminium is made and what the final products are. Rio Tinto’s HSE Advisor Alyssa Dalton provided a safety induction for the class and then Laure Kline, Business Improvement partner for Rio Tinto, took the class on a site tour. Kline was a member of the new smelter start up team and answered many questions on the new smelter and the process of making aluminium at B.C. Works. Photo supplied.
