The District of Kitimat announced Thursday (Jan. 7) that, effective immediately, the Strawberry Meadows access route to Minette Bay West Park has been closed to the public due to subdivision construction.
The closure is expected to last into early spring, and the district said that a reopening date will be provided when available.
Until now, there were two access routes into Minette Bay West Park: one off Elderberry St. in the Strawberry Meadows neighbourhood, and the other from the Minette Bay Lodge access road off Kitamaat Village Rd.
However, the latter is not a public road, so this means that the park is closed until public access via Strawberry Meadows is open again in the Spring.
