On May 27, there was a small forest fire behind Mount Elizabeth School and Meldrum Street. No injuries were reported.
“We suspect that there were some children in the bush playing with matches,” said Scott Pritchard, the District’s deputy director of prevention and training.
“We did find a piece of a pallet that was out there.”
The fire lasted for a few hours on Saturday afternoon, a crew of six put it out in approximately two hours.
