The leisure pool at the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre has been temporarily closed as of Monday (Oct. 5), the same day the aquatic centre reopened to the public.

The leisure pool in the facility has been closed for the time being due to a mechanical malfunction, the District said. The main swimming pool and the hot tub remain open, but the aquatic centre capacity has been temporarily reduced to 25 patrons at a time due to COVID-19 distancing protocols.

The District said an update on the pool’s status will be provided by end-of-day on Friday (Oct. 9).

The aquatic centre reopened Oct. 5 after being closed due to structural maintenance issues around the teach pool. Lessons are currently not running due to these maintenance issues, but the District said they will be able to run lessons again, with COVID-19 safety protocols in place, once the issue has been fixed.

Patrons currently need to register to go swimming, and can call 250-632-8955 to book a time.
