The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine (RDKS) has appointed Lina Gasser as its new chief administrative officer (CAO) to replace outgoing Ron Poole.

Gasser is currently the CAO for the Village of Hazelton and will resign from her position to begin with RDKS on March 21, 2022.

Gasser, who grew up in the Terrace area, said she is thrilled to be returning to the city and to have this opportunity to work with the staff, elected officials and “the people that make the northwest so special.”

“My last three years in Hazelton have given me a glimpse into some of the strategic priorities for the board. I look forwards to working diligently to make these goals a reality,” she said in a statement.

Prior to Hazelton, she has also worked with the District of Fort St. James as a corporate officer and then as the deputy chief administrative officer.

Hazelton’s Mayor Dennis Sterritt extended his best wishes to Gasser on her new role, while highlighting her “invaluable” services to the council.

Meanwhile, RDKS board chairperson Phil Germuth, welcomed her to the team and said they were looking forward to working with her on strategic priorities.
