Rainforest Wellness Pharmacy wins multiple awards during 2021 BC Excellence Awards

Paul Sherman, Owner of Rainforest Wellness Pharmacy took home three awards

Rainforest Wellness Pharmacy took home three awards at the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce’s 2021 Business Excellence Awards.

The award ceremony took place at the Mount Elizabeth Theatre on Mar. 12. People attending the awards also had the opportunity ahead of time to purchase a ticket for dinner. Due to the sheer volume of people, the dinners could not all be held at the same restaurant.

“The restaurant concept went over really well, in the end, we ended up just having four restaurants, not the original six we had planned,” said Laurel D’Andrea, Executive Director Kitimat Chamber of Commerce. “We had about 128 people out in the community having dinner at the same time.”

The tickets each cost $25 and the chamber matched what people paid. According to D’Andrea that equated to $6,600 being put back into the community. The event saw approximately over 100 people in attendance, D’Andrea said.

There were a variety of awards given out including, home-based businesses, tourism, going green, accessibility, medium business and large business to name a few. Paul Sherman, owner of Rainforest Wellness Pharmacy took home three awards, the Go Green Award, Business Leader of the Year and Business of the year.

Sherman was not expecting to take home all the trophies, he wanted to recognize the effort his team made.

“I wasn’t expecting it, it was pretty exciting, I really have to shout out to the people that I work with, it isn’t just me it’s the whole team as it’s a team effort, they make me shine,” said Sherman. “I have to thank the community they’re the ones supporting us,” he added.

There was also a three-way tie for the Indigenous Joint Ventures/Partnership award between Ledcor-Haisla, Haisla Security and Civeo.

The Chamber of Commerce also took the opportunity to recognize something they called the community with the COVID community hero awards. The District of Kitimat, Kitimat Emergency Operations Centre and Pyramid Office Supplies all were recognized for their contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
