The Nechako Toastmasters Club is currently seeking additional members.
As of late, the club has been experiencing an extreme drought of new members.
The club has been placed in a suspended state by Toastmasters International unless membership can grow.
The club needs a total of eight members to be able to continue its operation and has only five members currently. This may be the last week of the group’s existence if they are unable to obtain three more members.
“There seems to be lots of interest, but very little follow-through,” writes Wanda Shaw in a note to those that have expressed interest in joining.
The local Toastmasters club is one of the longest-running in Kitimat, having started in 1957.
Toastmasters is a non-profit educational organization that teaches people public speaking and leadership skills.
All the meetings are happening over zoom and take place every second and fourth Thursday until it is possible to meet in person again. For those that are interested they’re asked to contact Shaw at 250-639-0336 or by email at wandashaw1@gmail.com
