Workers from the northwest have travelled to Kitimat to take part in scaffold safety training.

The Construction, Maintenance and Allied Workers Canada (CMAW) training is taking place at the Chinook Scaffolding Systems location in Kitimat.

The training is taking place over a two-week period and both the gear and space were provided by Chinook Scaffolding.

“Chinook Scaffold Systems is proud to partner with CMAW on training initiatives,” said Dodd Hareuther, Chinook Scaffold Systems COO. “Scaffold training leads to a rewarding career which is in high demand, the trade pays well and provides safe temporary access industry-wide”

Workers learn how to safely build the scaffolding as well as take it down. These types of training courses take place throughout the year and can include level one to four scaffolding training.

“Our members live here and like it here, most don’t want to leave; so we bring our trainer to the area as often as possible,” said Mike Jensen CMAW NW Business Agent. “Scaffolding is a major component to most any industrial construction or maintenance projects, and our resident local members bring huge value to any job site.”
