Passenger count at the Northwest Regional Airport dipped by nearly 2,000 in September.
The monthly total in September was 16,420, down from 18,388 in August. While those totals are overall lower than before the pandemic in 2019, the drop is similar to that year when the number of passengers decreased from 28,647 to 26,453 between August and September.
Around 2,000 more passengers travelled through the airport in Sept. 2021 than the same month in 2020, after the COVID-19 pandemic decimated the demand for air travel in March last year.
From January to the end of September this year, 101,659 passengers have used the airport. That is lower than the 2020 year-to-date total of 113,987, because of high demand during the first two months of the year.
The Northwest Regional Airport’s monthly statistics do not include passengers on chartered flights, so the number of people arriving and departing from the airport is actually higher. Charter passengers use a separate building for arrivals and departures.
