Over the next three years, LNG Canada will be contributing $105,000 to the ‘Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries, Scholarships, and Awards’ program by Indspire, an Indigenous national charity that supports education for First Nations, Inuit and Métis people.

Indigenous students from Gitga’at First Nation, Gitxaala Nation, Haisla First Nation, Kitsumkalum First Nation, Kitselas First Nation, Lax Kw’alaams Band, Metlakatla First Nation, and Métis Nation of B.C. who are attending any post-secondary institution and who have demonstrated financial need for educational costs are eligible for the funding. The total award amounts will be matched by the federal government.

LNG Canada has also committed an additional $195,000 over three years to support the annual Indspire Awards and Soaring: Indigenous Youth Empowerment Gathering, a career conference and campus day for hundreds of Indigenous high school students, and the annual National Gathering for Indigenous Education, a professional development conference for educators of Indigenous students.

“It’s our job as an organization and as individuals to continue to advance economic reconciliation, and reconciliation as a whole. Today’s announcement is another step in that journey. We’re proud to partner with Indspire and to be involved with this initiative,” Hope Regimbald, LNG Canada Indigenous Relations Advisor, said in a media release.
