LNG Canada will be adopting a new mandatory vaccine program.

All LNG Canada staff will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Nov. 30. This is also timed to meet new travel requirements that were announced by Transport Canada on Oct. 6.

The shift to mandatory vaccination comes following a recommendation from B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer Bonnie Henry that industrial site workers show proof of vaccination.

“100 per cent of the LNG Canada workforce will be in compliance with the mandatory vaccination policy,” said an LNG Canada spokesperson in an email. This will also include new hires coming onto the project.

LNG Canada prime contractor JCG Fluor and its subcontractors are expected to be fully vaccinated, according to the spokesperson.

Details about how the program will be set up and enforced are still in development and will be communicated with workers, stakeholders and community members. LNG Canada said in a statement that they are committed to protecting workers, community and project from COVID-19.
