Kitimatians were amongst the leaders when it came to pulling the plug during March 26th’s Earth Hour.
BC Hydro reported Kitimat power usage was down 4.35 per cent compared to a normal one-hour period.
That left Kitimat tied for third with Whistler. Tumble Ridge achieved 4.95 per cent and Pitt Meadows was easily tops at 5,70 per cent.
Province-wide the reduction was only 1.8 per cent, not a surprise given heavily populated Vancouver could only manage a 1.5 per cent cut while Victoria’s contribution was just 0.93 per cent.
