Police say a criminal impaired driving investigation is underway following an early morning one-vehicle accident.

Officers responded to a report of a collision on Haisla Boulevard and Tsimshian Boulevard at 3:55 a.m. Sept. 1 and believe that a single vehicle travelling westbound on Haisla Boulevard crossed the median and ended up on the westbound shoulder.

Two light standards were knocked down as a result of the collision, indicate police.

“The driver was located near the scene and was transported to the hospital. A criminal impaired driving investigation is being conducted by the Kitimat RCMP,” police continued.

A collision analyst was at the scene the morning of Sept. 1.

Kitimat RCMP are asking that anyone who witnessed the collison and who has not yet spoken to police to contact the Kitimat RCMP detachment.
