Kitimat Search and Rescue bring back stranded motorist

The motorist was stranded in a remote location within the Saunders backroad network

According to Kitimat Search and Rescue, the motorist had abandoned his stuck vehicle and hiked a considerable distance where he was able to relay his GPS coordinates. (Kitimat Search and Rescue logo)

Kitimat Search and Rescue (KSAR) located and brought back a stranded motorist on June 8.

KSAR were tasked by the Kitimat RCMP around 10 p.m., June 7, regarding a stranded motorist in a remote location within the Saunders backroad network.

According to KSAR, the motorist had abandoned his stuck vehicle and hiked a considerable distance where he was able to relay his GPS coordinates. The individuals truck was stuck in mud/clay well off Saunders main haul road.

Early in the morning on June 8, around 4:40 a.m., the subject was located by a team in the air.

After the individual was assessed they were taken to a safe location back in Kitimat.

The individual was cold and wet and had no injuries.
