Kitimat Museum & Archives is holding two community meet-ups for the public to provide updates about a shared facility.
The consultants involved, Donald Luxton & Associates, D. HJensen & Associates Ltd and Kinexus Consulting will be presenting updates from the feasibility study which is underway.
There are currently two meetings scheduled, on the evening of Sept. 6 at the Haisla Nation Administration building and on Sept. 7 at the Joanne Monaghan community room, Riverlodge.
Details, including options about location and size of the facility, along with space allocation and program components will be discussed at the meeting. The team will also address options for institutional requirements such as staffing an, programming and exhibits.
Last year, the Kitimat museum and Haisla Nation announced its partnership for a new facility following reports of deteriorating conditions of the current ageing building at 293 City Centre.
Currently, the Haisla Nation is in the process of identifying cultural belongings in collections around the world with the goal of bringing them back home to Haisla territory.
A new facility would feature both the Haisla heritage collection and the community and natural history of the area.
