Jacob Van Horne captures four silver medals and a bronze medal for the Kitimat Marlins at the Northern and Interior Winter Divisional Championships that took place Feb. 25 to Feb. 27 in Penticton.

There were a total of four Marlins representing Kitimat including Wynn Runka, Dallas Gray, Jacob Van Horne and Lucas Johnstone. They competed in their biggest meet in two years.

Out of the 24 swims from the group, 20 were personal best times.

“Lucas performed best moving up 23 spots across his events for the weekend and Wynn also did well moving 15 spots across all her events,” said coach CJ Brant.

Brant marks where his swimmers ranked coming out of the event, as an example if a swimmer is ranked fifth and they place third it would be considered a plus two.

All swimmers with the Marlins moved up a total of 47 spots from their original rankings.
