The Kitimat Ice Demons dismantled the Hazelton Wolverines 12-3 in their last regular-season game of the season at the Tamitik Arena & Sports Complex on Feb. 5. The 12-3 victory marks their biggest win on the season.

As opposed to previous games, the Ice Demons came out firing quickly on Saturday, scoring in the 6th and 13th minutes of the first. However, it wouldn’t be until the second period that Kitimat would blow the game open, putting 25 shots on net and holding the Wolverines to just five. Kitimat would find the back of the net seven times throughout the period.

The Ice Demons would score three more times, wrapping up the game in the third period. Ultimately, the Ice Demons would outshoot their opponents 57-25. Neither team was able to convert on the powerplay as both teams failed to score on three opportunities each.

Ice Demons coach Donald Pacheco said he is happy with his team’s performance over the last few games.

“I am very pleased with our performance in the last game. We are going into the playoffs on a hot streak and we hope that it continues,” he said.

With the win over the Wolverines, the Ice Demons split their final home-stand 2-2 wrapping up their season. They finish the season with a record of 4-9-0-1 a record nearly identical to their 4-9-0-2 finish from last season.
