Residents of Kitimat will be impacted by a reduced bus service schedule, as BC Transit grapples with a shortage of drivers.
They said in a media release the changes in bus times are to provide more stability for customers that use the Kitimat transit system.
According to BC Transit, further disruptions to service will not be required, and the lack of drivers is expected to be a short-term issue.
The impacted bus routes include 1A, 1B, 2 and 3 on Fridays as well as Sundays. The change will go into effect on Dec. 3 and will be in effect until further notice.
The list of removed bus times include:
Friday 1B - 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 2 - 7:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m., 9:00 p.m., 3 - 7:15 p.m., 8:15 p.m., 9:15 p.m., Sunday, 1A - 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. / 8:00 p.m., 9:00 p.m., 2 - 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m., 3 - 7:45 a.m.,8:45 a.m., 7:45 p.m., 8:45 p.m., 9:45 p.m.
BC Transit is working with their operating company PW Transit to fix the issue and will resume their fully scheduled service as soon as possible.
