October 24 once again brings the Aluminum City Telethon (ACT).
This year, the ACT will feature youth singers, musicians along with sports demonstrations. The event is being held at Mountain Elizabeth Theatre and will be live-streamed at Kitimat Community Foundation’s website. It will be taking place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The ACT raised $90,180 last year.
The telethon fundraises to give grants to Kitimat non-profit organizations. Recently, the Kitimat Marine Rescue Society, Kitimat Understand the Environment, Special Olympics and Tamitik Status of Women have been among the groups that have been helped through this event.
Money is also invested each year into a community endowment fund for future needs of Kitimat services. As COVID-19 continues to impact the community, the telethon will be reduced to five hours to help limit the spread of the virus with all COVID safety practices in place.
There is a chance to donate before the event at Kitimat Community Foundation’s website or you can donate on the day of the event. The number to call during the telethon is 778-631-2021, or you can donate at Canada Help’s website by searching Kitimat Community Foundation.
