The city is lending the fledgling Kitimat General Hospital Foundation a hand while the latter waits for its charitable status approval.
Without that the foundation cannot issue tax receipts for donations.
So in the meantime people can make donations to the city which can issue receipts.
And once KGHF’s charitable status is confirmed, the city will pass on what it has received to that point to the foundation.
This is the same set-up that was used for donations to the Looking for Love Shelter group while it was waiting for confirmation of its charitable status.
