Council gets a reminder

Councillors have been reminded they must provide the relevant subsection of Section 90 the Community Charter when they ask to add a new business item to the in-camera agenda.

Councillors have been reminded they must provide the relevant subsection of Section 90 the Community Charter when they ask to add a new business item to the in-camera agenda.

The reminder follows a query by the Sentinel at the December 20 council meeting where it was noted the subsection information was no longer being provided.

The Community Charter only allows for certain subjects to be discussed outside of public scrutiny such as personal information about a prospective employee, information which could harm an investigation or the security of municipal.

Items not specified under Section 90 of the Community Charter must be dealt with during public meetings.
