UPDATE: Dec. 29 edition of Northern Sentinel destroyed in truck rollover

No injuries in single-vehicle crash Saturday, papers were stored next to racks of water cooler jugs

There will be no print edition of The Northern Sentinel this week.

A cargo truck carrying the Dec. 29 edition of the paper flipped on the highway outside Kitimat at 8:17 a.m. on the morning of Dec. 24.

There were no injuries to the driver in the single-vehicle accident. The truck lost control going 55 km/h during the bad weather.

Bandstra Transportation confirmed today that the papers were completely destroyed as they were beside racks of water cooler jugs.

Subscribers are directed to the online edition of the Sentinel at www.northernsentinel.com/e-editions.

There was no impact to traffic flow as the truck slid fully off the road down an embankment.

“We’re very lucky that the driver did not get hurt,” said Mike Euverman, a spokesperson for Bandstra.

The truck was eventually extracted and towed and the cargo was not unloaded until today.
