Just after midnight on September 27, power was knocked out to 526 BC Hydro customers, the company reports.
A motor vehicle accident was cited as the cause of the outage.
Kitimat RCMP say alcohol and speed are considered factors so far in their investigation, and that the power pole was essentially hanging by the wires after the incident.
The driver of the vehicle was eventually airlifted to Victoria in critical but stable condition, while a passenger walked away relatively unharmed, after being freed with the jaws of life.
Power is expected to return at around 4 p.m. today, BC Hydro says.
Kildala Elementary sent all their students home for the remainder of the day due to the lack of power.
