The U15 Rep Winterhawks showcased an impressive performance at their recent tournament in Penticton over the weekend, sweeping through the competition to claim the Tournament Championship with an unbeaten record. Their journey began on Friday night (Fe. 9) with a dominant 7-0 victory over the South Delta Storm. Ethan Fairbrother delivered a flawless performance in net, contributing to the win alongside six different Winterhawks scoring, including Kingston Hanson with two goals, and Lakin Mailloux, Chase Wakita, Hudson Medeiros, and Josh Gray each finding the net.

Continuing their momentum into Saturday, the Winterhawks recorded two more victories. The morning game saw an 11-3 triumph over the Whitehorse Mustangs, with Kaleb Calkins and Maxim Bonneau each netting hat-tricks. Captain Lakin Mailloux and Kingston Hanson added two goals apiece, while Chase Wakita rounded off the scoring. Ethan Fairbrother and Ryan McKenzie shared goaltending duties in this decisive win. The evening brought a tightly contested 4-2 victory against the host Penticton Tier 3 team. Josh Gray’s remarkable solo effort tied the game, setting the stage for further goals by Wakita, Medeiros, and Mailloux, the latter sealing the win with an empty-net goal.

On Sunday, the Winterhawks faced the Winnfield Bruins, a team they had previously defeated in a tournament final in Winnfield. Despite trailing 3-1, the Winterhawks rallied back with Ethan Boudreau and Kaleb Calkins bridging the gap, and Chase Wakita securing the lead with a late goal, culminating in a 5-3 victory. This win advanced the Winterhawks to the Gold Medal Game, where they faced off against the host Penticton Tier 3 Squad once again.

The final was nothing short of spectacular for the Winterhawks, as they emerged victorious with a 7-1 win over Penticton, crowning them the unbeaten champions of the tournament. The team’s journey through the tournament was marked by strategic play, teamwork and individual brilliance, earning them well-deserved accolades and the championship title.
