Kitimat Marlin Swim Club take home nine medals at virtual Divisional Championships

“Just qualifying is a huge accomplishment”

Four Marlins from the Kitimat Marlin Swim Club qualified and competed in the Virtual North and Interior Divisional Championships.

During practice last month, Louie Quinn, Jacob Van Horne, Gavin Thomopoulos and Grayden Rusconi submitted their times to Swim BC’s Virtual North and Interior Divisional Championships and came away with nine medal placings across seventeen swims.

“Congratulations boys! Just qualifying is a huge accomplishment,” said Heather Van Horne, Publicity Chair for the Kitimat Marline Swim Club.

Below are the medal placings:

In the 12 and under age (12U) category, Louie Quinn placed first in the boys short course 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:32.10; second in the 12U boys short course 400-meter freestyle with a time of 5:27.56; and third place in the 12U boys short course 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:09.76.

In the 13-14 age category, Gavin Thomopoulos placed second in the boys short course 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:533.10; third place in the 13-14 boys short course 50-meter butterfly with a time of 30.43; third place in the 13-14 boys short course 50-meter freestyle with a time of 27.43; third in the 13-14 boys short course 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:01.10; and third place in the 13-14 boys short course 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:21.80.

Also, in the 13-14 age category, Jacob Van Horne placed third in the boys short course 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 37.56.
