Firefighters win Guns and Hoses Charity Match

Saturday, Feb. 18 saw plenty of excitement at the Guns and Hoses charity hockey game. The match took place at Tamitik arena. At least $5200 was raised before admission donations were counted.

Saturday, Feb. 18 saw plenty of excitement at the Guns and Hoses charity hockey game. The match took place at Tamitik arena. At least $5200 was raised before admission donations were counted.

It was a close match. The score was tied at two-two by the end of the first and stayed that way throughout the second period.

Firefighters #11 Justin Mederos and #42 Captail Brad Bemis scored two points in the third period, assisted by #12 Jordon Venditelli and #11 Justin Mederos respectively.

The firefighters then got a two-minute penalty for interference by#23 Tayden Fowler-Mcnab.

#19 Chris Vilness assisted by #21 Kalan Gillmann scored a third point for the RCMP with 8.8 seconds left in the third period

The final score of the game was 4/3 for the Hoses.

There was also a Timbits hockey game in the first intermission, as well as a figure skating demonstration by Olivia Petersen and a paper airplane toss in the second.

While most police and firefighters were either attending or playing in the match, a full crew of firefighters and police remained on shift to deal with any potential emergencies that may have occurred during the game.
