The District of Kitimat is reminding residents that winter parking regulations come into force starting Nov. 1, requiring the relocation of trailers, boats, and recreational vehicles if they are parked too close to the road. The bylaws will remain in effect until March 31.
The measures aim to prevent obstructions near roadways during winter conditions.
As per the guidelines, boats, RVs, and trailers must be kept at least 4.5 metres back from the property line, not the curb. These vehicles can be stored on the driveway or in a garage, but residents must ensure a 1.8-metre clearance between properties.
A maximum of one RV, along with two boats or trailers, is permitted on a residential lot during the winter months. Non-compliance with these rules may result in a fine of $100 per day.
