It has set aside $20,000 this year and non-profits are also eligible for the first-come-first-serve program.

Though the deadline to apply is November 1, two applications have already been received by the district with most applicants usually granted the maximum of $5,000, those interested are being warned to act fast.

This Business Facade Improvements Program is in partnership with the Northern Development Initiative Trust and more than 18 businesses have taken advantage of it over the past seven years.

The program aims to revitalize the commercial centre by encouraging private sector investment.

Technicon Industries, CDN Controls, and The Chalet Motel received money last year.
