The Kitimat Night Market has returned again this year, however, it is already facing challenges.

The banner displayed on the overpass has gone missing. The Chamber of Commerce is urging anyone with information on the banner’s whereabouts to come forwards or return the banner to the Chamber at 2109 Forest Ave.

The banner costs $125 to print, which is substantial for a nonprofit organization with limited resources.

“My staff work extremely hard to create events for the community and we are so grateful to be able to have access to the overpass to hang the banners so people know when things are happening. We follow the rules, we get the permits, and yet one of the banners is MIA?” wrote Laurel D’Andrea, the Executive Director for the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce in a Facebook post.

“This really hurts us when things walk away. Yes, we checked and the zip ties were cut, but hey maybe it flew off?”

This is not the first time something has happened to the night market banners. According to the Facebook post, last year, the night market banners were slashed.

The night market runs from 5 to 8 p.m. every Friday in June, July and August except June 30 and August 4. The market features a variety of local vendors and food trucks. In the Lower City Centre parking lot.
