While Kitimat has yet to announce its first baby of the new year, the last baby born in 2022 is being celebrated.

Little Janice Thompson, the last local baby to be born last year, was welcomed into the world in Kitimat General Hospital on Dec. 6 at 5:36 p.m. weighing 7 lb 8 oz.

For Breanna and Daniel Thompson, this marks the second child in their growing family and now baby sister to older brother Archer Thompson.

A gift certificate from the Kitimat Hospital Auxilary was presented by Armel Kennedy and Lois Godfrey.

A quilt from the Quilters Guild was presented by Lois Mendel and Ann Ferguson.
