Environment Canada is predicting freezing rain will occur throughout the district until at least Tuesday morning.

Freezing rain will persist until Tuesday morning when the outflow weakens and temperatures rise above zero. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break.

Strong outflow winds continue to drive modified arctic air through mainland valleys as a frontal system crosses the region today.

The combination of warm air from the approaching system overriding the cold outflow is producing freezing rain in valleys throughout the region.
