Fire crews contain house fire on Widgeon Street in Kitimat

Kitimat Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire on Widgeon Street on March 15 at 2:30 p.m. When crews arrived, one of the four units in a multiplex was fully engulfed in flames.

Kitimat Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire on Widgeon Street on March 15 at 2:30 p.m. When crews arrived, one of the four units in a multiplex was fully engulfed in flames.

“The team did a quick knockdown and prevented the fire from spreading,” said Fire Chief Trent Bossence.

Firefighters contained the blaze to one unit, preventing further damage to the rest of the building. While that unit sustained extensive damage.

No one was injured in the fire.

As of March 17, investigators remained on scene working to determine the cause of the fire.

“My deputy chief is out there right now sifting through everything to find the cause and origin of the fire,” Bossence said.
