The Kitimat Chamber of Commerce welcomed its new board during its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, April 15th.

With a total of 11 members, the 2021 board is comprised of 9 returning members and 2 new members. The chamber believes this new board will ensure a diverse composition across business, industry, professions, and community with a focus on COVID recovery, reconnections, growth, and sustainability for all businesses; small, medium or large.

“Part of this success is supported by our continued cooperation with the District of Kitimat. The Chamber safely operated the Tourism and Information Centre throughout the ongoing pandemic, conducted a Christmas Focus Local campaign, and efficiently administered proceeds for the COVID-19 Economic Recovery Task Force. Additionally, the Chamber met with the city council every four months to discuss local issues, participated in their Community Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Plan, and joined them on their annual business walk,” said Daniel Chimko, former president of the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce in a press release to the Northern Sentinel.

Striving to prioritize support and wellness, being flexible, and rethinking what essential means for all industries, the chamber hopes to empower businesses and workers through utilizing and experimenting with technology.

“Looking forward to 2021, there is more to come from the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce. You will continue to see the new ‘Member Mondays’ which highlights and educates you on a local business,” said Chimko.

The 2021/2022 board members are:

Tracey Hittel, President of Kitimat Lodge; Ashley Hinton, Vice President of CIVEO; Jackie Sweet, Secretary of Jacqueline Sweet Notary; Corrado Colombo, Director of ABC Industries; Tanya Healy, General Manager of Chalet Motel & Restaurant; BJ Houghton, Director of McElhanney; Kyle MacGillivray, Director of No Frills; Thom Meier, Director of CIMS Limited Partnership (101 Industries); Eve Normandin, Director of Rio Tinto; Cameron Orr, Director of Haisla Nation Band Council; Graham Pitzel, Director of Re/Max Kitimat Realty.
