Chevron Canada has revealed details of the planned demolition of structures at the former Eurocan site in the Kitimat industrial area.

Chevron Communications Lead Ray Lord provided the Sentinel with a photo of the area and the proposed demolitions work, which is part of early works and involves preparing the various sites prior to a Final Investment Decision being made.

The planned demolitions also featured during a recent open house held at Riverlodge.

The largest structure to be demolished will be the former Eurocan sawmill building, which will be removed during the rest of 2017.

A number of other smaller structures and pipeways will also be demolished in the process.

“The intention is to repurpose and remediate areas on that site.

“As a heavy industrial site there are structures and soil conditions that will require remediation and monitoring over some years – a cleanup,” said Lord.
