Stage and TV veterans Geri Hall (22 Minutes, Second City) and Gary Pearson (MadTV, Corner Gas) will stop in Kitimat Oct. 16 with their new Sketch Comedy, “Middle Raged”.

“Middle Raged,” a contemporary sketch comedy on mid-life coupledom featuring two Canadian stage and TV veterans, is scheduled for a stop in Kitimat Oct. 16 at the Mount Elizabeth Theatre. Presented by the Kitimat Concert Association, the show spotlights the trials of life between the ages of 30 and 65, when (according to the writers’ note) “the bloom is off the rose, but the thorns are sharper than ever.”

Crafted by and starring well-known comedic actors Geri Hall (22 Minutes, Second City) and Gary Pearson (MadTV, Corner Gas), the performance promises a blend of musical parodies and dynamic comedy.

Hall conceived the idea shortly after the birth of her first child. As she and her husband climbed in the car ready for a long-overdue date night, she realized they didn’t have a will — if they died in a car accident, there were no instructions on who would raise the baby. The couple hopped out of the car and spent the night writing out a will on napkins.

Shortly after Hall pitched a burgeoning idea to her longtime friend and colleague, Gary Pearson.

The result is sketch comedy with relatable situations and challenges—from the struggle to write your will, to the ongoing effort to keep things spicy in the bedroom. It explores child rearing in confusing modern times, financial struggles and trying to keep your spirits up despite attending too many funerals.

Extra Mile columnist Bill Broulx praised the show for its increasingly hilarious sketches.

“It soon became apparent that Hall and Pearson are masters at what they do,” he wrote. “Playing off each other with an electric energy, Hall and Pearson brought an undeniable charisma to every sketch and song they performed. You can tell that they live for comedy and the rush of a live audience.”

Middle Raged will show at the Mount Elizabeth Theatre on Oct. 16, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Bradley’s Bait and Tackle or at the door.
