Kitimat's 2556 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps face the audience during the 11th Annual Ceremonial Review.

The 2556 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps 1 Combat Engineer Regiment held their 11th Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) on June 4, celebrating the end of the cadet year with awards and a Change of Command ceremony.

The end-of-year ACR allowed the cadets to showcase their successes and their dedication to community service, highlighting their growth from a small corps to the largest Army Cadet Corps north of Kelowna, with nearly 60 members.

Awards presented included the prestigious Lord Strathcona Medal, awarded to CWO William Sluyter, who will begin an engineering degree along with outgoing Regimental Sergeant Major CWO Tristan Hall. Both Sluyter and Hall, along with Master Warrant Officer Evan Watt, received Long Service Medals. The Legion Medal of Excellence, recognizing good citizenship and leadership, was awarded to Warrant Officer Chester Jennings. Sergeant Tonye Hart received the Esprit de Corps award, voted by his fellow cadets.

The event also marked the farewell of Commanding Officer Lt(N) Pamela Gueguen, who is departing for a teaching career in London, England. Lt(N) Gregory Judas will take over as the new Commanding Officer in the fall.

The reviewing party for the event included Reviewing Officer John Sorenson, a local teacher and alumnus sea cadet from #7 Captain Cook in Prince Rupert; RCMP Constable Arthur Ulrich; Zone Training Officer for Prince George West, Captain John Callaghan; Chief Warrant Officer Tristan Hall, Regimental Sergeant Major; Lieutenant (Navy) Pamela Gueguen, Commanding Officer; Lieutenant (Navy) Gregory Judas, Deputy Commanding Officer; Army Cadet League Chair Michelene Hall; and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 250 President Tony Pace.
