Why do I Relay, let me count the reasons….more than 200 reasons, because that’s how many different types of cancer there are.

But, my reasons are much more personal.

My mother had breast cancer - she died.

I had breast cancer - I survived.

My brother-in-law had prostate cancer - he survived.

My husband had prostate cancer - he survived.

My husband had leukemia - he was in remission for 15 months. My husband’s leukemia has come back and he is going through treatment again.

As you can see I have many personal reasons to FIGHT BACK.

I will not allow cancer to take over my life and the lives of my loved ones and WIN.

Cures have been found for some types of cancer, but much research is being done so that we can PREVENT cancer from happening in the first place.

Relay For Life is the Canadian Cancer Society’s biggest fund raiser. In 2010 BC/Yukon Division had 51 events and raised more than $5,000,000 - and Kitimat did its part by raising more than $114,000.

My husband and I have used the Volunteer Driver Program. We have also stayed at the Cancer Lodge in Vancouver several times, from 2 days up to 2 months.

I am now a volunteer with CancerConnection.

I am asking you to get involved in Relay For Life and let’s continue to FIGHT BACK against this disease.

Early detections of some cancers have been found and ways to PREVENT cancer are being brought to the forefront.

I believe that cancer is causing too much suffering and pain in too many lives.
