Students building bridges

This Saturday MESS students are going to spend hours building a bridge out of popsicle sticks.

And then are going to watch it get crushed.

It’s all part of a competition put on by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC).

Teams from across the region will be taking part, each seeking to prove that they are the best builders.

Each team gets 100 sticks and some white glue - that’s all they are allowed to use.

And when the bridges are completed the strength test begins with the one that holds up longest being the winner.

The competition gets under way at 9 a.m. at the high school and runs until 3 p.m.
