Children with special needs or autism will have greater access to reading material thanks to district councillor and local businesswoman Claire Rattée.

Kitimat DisABILITY Resources (KDR) used the funds raised by Rattée during the latest Autism Awareness Walk to purchase special needs and autism books for Kildala, Nechako and St. Anthony’s schools.

KDR’s Megan Rothney said the organization felt it was important that teachers and students have access to information and additional resources.

“We hope that parents and teachers will choose the books that we have provided to read to their class,” said Rothney.

“They are wonderful, fun and informative books.”

Rattée raised over a thousand dollars for the books, which were purchased through Amazon.
