Whether you’re a local or an incomer searching for a good time, here are some things to do on the Peninsula this weekend.

A pub is a meeting place

Local pubs offer so much more than food and drink. In Sidney: Beacon Brewing has trivia nights, music bingo, a Vinyl night, comedy nights and live music. Small Gods Brewing has a storyteller series, writers’ group, book club and more. Dickens Public House offers live music, pool and darts. Are you in Saanichton? Prairie Inn Pub, around since 1859, is known for good beers, good food and a good crowd. In Brentwood Bay, music bingo is popular at Brewskys Taphouse. Visit a pub’s website to see their latest offerings for the week(end).

It Might As Well Be Spring

The Via Choralis Performance Society, Sidney’s “neighbourhood” choir, turns twenty-five this year! They’re celebrating with songs from well-known Broadway musicals and on the topic of spring. Lawrence Skaggs, from the McPherson Trio and who has spent 35 years as principal cellist with the Victoria Symphony, will join the choir’s pianist, Yousef Shadian for a performance during the intermission. This will be a farewell concert for artistic director, Jody Onuma.

See It Might As Well Be Spring at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 at St. Elizabeth’s Church on Third St. in Sidney.
