On the evening of November 20 a silent auction/dessert night was held at Mountain View Alliance church to help raise funds for the aid work being done by Kitimat people in Babicora, Mexico.

Over the course of the evening some outstanding coffee and desserts were served while people “cruised” the silent auction tables.

All the while a series of pictures and videos showed the work done in Mexico by the five Kitimat teams sent since 2007.

The proceeds from this event totalled over $3,000 and will be used exclusively for building materials and aid supplies to help the Pima people of the Copper canyon area of Mexico.

Thank you to all the Kitimat businesses and individuals who generously donated items for the auction which contributed significantly to the success of the evening.

Plans are now being made to send another team from Kitimat to Babicora in the late summer of this year.

On February 3-4 Pastor Tomas Bencomo, his wife Maria, and Pastor Brenda Granados will be visiting Kitimat from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, where they head up the aid work helping the Pima, and Tarahumara people.

While here they will share stories of what is happening in their work and the impact that the Kitimat teams have had there.

More details of their visit will be available when the planning has been finalized.

In the meantime anyone interested in donating returnable bottles or cans left from the holiday season are welcome to call Rick Reinert at 250-639-9487 to arrange to have them picked up.
