Angus MacLeod is yet another Kitimat resident to win an award for their writing. Angus was awarded the 2017 John W. Bilsland Award for Literary Excellence in Senior Writers for his short story The Great Skeena Street Scoop-Off and Barbeque of 1983. Angus, a prolific writer, decided to submit one of his short stories to the competition after spotting a notice in our Briefs section in the Sentinel earlier this year calling for entries. Angus won $500 and a trophy for his efforts and plans to enter the competition again next year.
