UPDATE:
Power outage is extended now. The BC Hydro outage map is showing most of the Whitesail and part of the Nechako neighbourhood is without power as well in addition to the downtown. Cause still attributed to a tree across power lines.
Estimate for power back is 11 a.m. for all of Kitimat.

The downtown area lost power around 8:30 a.m. this morning.
BC Hydro estimates power will be restored at 11 a..m.
