Kitimat’s Fusion Eye Care is throwing its weight behind a fundraising drive to raise $15,000 towards purchasing a much-needed piece of eye surgery equipment for Mills Memorial hospital.
Kitimat General Hospital Foundation (KGHF) president Margaret Sanou said the new ophthalmic surgical microscope will enable those patients in the northwest requiring eye surgery to receive their surgery in a timely manner close to home.
“The number of patients requiring cataract surgery has doubled in the past few years which has made another microscope necessary,” said Sanou.
“We are very grateful for Fusion Eye Care’s enthusiastic support of this project.”
Fusion Eye Care’s Dr. Rebecca Counts said the addition of the $195,000 state-of-the-art ophthalmic microscope at Mills Memorial Hospital is a great project to support.
“It will benefit a good number of our patients in Kitimat. Fusion Eye Care is happy to help KGHF meet its fundraising target by encouraging our clients to make a donation,” said Counts.
The Foundation’s donation box will be prominently displayed on Fusion Eye Care’s reception counter.
“We hope that all their clients will consider making a donation towards the purchase of this important piece of equipment. We still have a ways to go to meet our target, so all donations, big or small, make a difference,” said Sanou.
She added that for donations over $25 there are donation forms at the back of the donation box for anyone requiring a charitable receipt.
