Victoire (Vicky) Schrier

February 25, 1933 to September 9, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Victoire (Vicky) Cyrilla Octavie Steurbaut Schrier after a long battle with Alzeimer’s disease. Vicky was born on Feb 25, 1933 in Zottegem, Belgium, the only child of Gerard Steurbaut and Yvonne Brunfaut. She immigrated to Canada in 1956 to be with her husband where she made her home in Kitimat, BC. Vicky was a prominent member of the community and worked for many years at the Hardware Store. She was an avid gardener (she won best garden in the Kitimat Rose Bowl in 1989), an impressive bowler, loved to entertain and travel and most loved the time she got to share with her family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jan, her three sons, Ed (Gina), Erroll (Amanda), Dan, her grandchildren Jennifer (Aaron), Kyla, Nicole (Mike), Dane and Drae, and her Great Grandchildren Eliana, Audrey and Zachary. A small memorial was held by Vicky’s family on September 17. A special thank-you to the amazing staff at Multi-Level care at the Kitimat General Hospital for caring for Vicky during the last years of her life.

“Those we hold closest never truly leave us.

They live on in the kindness they’ve shared and the love they brought into our lives.”
