With deep regret I advise the passing of my brother Ron Power on June 12, 2012, at the Hospice House in Kamloops, BC.

Ron was a quiet, kind and generous man recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. After moving to BC from Ontario in 1969 he lived in Prince George where he worked many years for Northwood Pulp. In 1987 he left to spend five years with Mercy Ships, an international charitable organization of hospital ships, where he donated his time helping onboard and also seeing the world. He cherished that time and met and made many good friends. He always sent letters and cards home of his adventures. The past 17 years he made his home in Kitimat, BC working for Alcan. He joined the Kitimat Pentecostal Assembly church and made good friends with Pastor Ken and good friends who were his regular golf buddies. Ron always made visits to Prince George to visit family & friends and never missed out on a good home cooked meal. He loved to visit his two nieces and loved his daughter Leanne immensely as well as his two beautiful grandchildren Maggie & Scott who he hoped to visit more often once he relocated to Kamloops.

Ron came to Kamloops on April 17 for treatment and he never gave up hope that he might ‘get his miracle’ and be able to live his dream of retiring this summer, moving to Kamloops and living in his brand new condo at the Sun Rivers golf course. He will be hugely missed by his sister Colleen (Power) Stromgren, her husband, Rand, and their children Jennifer (Jordan, kids Brooklyn & Layla) and Maureen; his daughter Leanne (McKinley) Danroth (Alan) and grandchildren Maggie and Scott; and his dear friends Ken Cook & John Carrita. Ron was predeceased by his parents Dan Power in 1983 and Anne (Calnan) Power in 1986.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held June 21st, 2012

in Kitimat at 7 pm at Ron’s Church in Kitimat.
