Richard Kenneth (Ken) Haun passed away peacefully on September 27, 2009 after a lengthy illness.

Ken was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and grew up in Ottawa. In 1955, he married Pat and they moved to Arvida, Quebec, where Ken joined Alcan. Over the next 30 years, his job in Power Operations took him to Kemano, then Shipshaw (Arvida) again, and finally Kitimat Works where worked until he retired.

Other than his family and his work, Ken’s passion in life was model railroading. He was a founding member of the Skeena Valley Model Railroad Association.

Ken’s last year was comfortable and safe, thanks to the amazing staff at Kitimat MLC, with whom Ken enjoyed a running banter of playful insults. We are so thankful to them and Drs. VanDerWesthuyzen, VanWyck and Wahl.

Ken is predeceased by his wife and his brother David. He is survived by his daughters Beverley (Carl), Shirley and Barbara, and grandchildren Cody, Allison, Kelly, Catherine, Chloe and Evelyn.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 1:30 pm at the Kitimat First United Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken’s name to Plan Canada (formerly Foster Parents Plan of Canada) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
