Marlis Marie Luise Masch (nee Kneipp)

January 15, 1936 to July 23, 2016

Marlis immigrated to Canada with her husband Erwin and their son Michael in 1957. While in Kitimat, she raised her family of four and worked at a hair salon in the Nechako Centre, as well as the North Star Inn as a cook. Marlis was a dedicated volunteer at the Kitimat Ice Rink, as well as the Kitimat Bowling Centre. She was an avid bowler with a passion to rip up the lanes. Now when we hear thunder roll, we can look up to the sky and think, “Good, Mom got another strike.” In her spare time, while not at the bowling alley, she could be heard yelling “BINGO” on more than one occasion. Marlis always enjoyed her flowers and plants and her green thumb followed her everywhere she went. She also had a passion for the Vancouver Canucks, but we never held that against her.

Marlis lived her life as a gentle soul with the kindest and most giving heart. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis many years ago and fought a very long battle with a disease that rendered her unable to walk, or to do the things she once loved. Marlis fought the good fight and on July 23, 2016, she passed away surrounded by her loving family. Marlis leaves behind her children Michael (Heather), Ron (Lorna), Alan (Rhonda), Cindy (Denis), numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand-dogs whom she loved dearly.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Mills, the wonderful, caring staff at the Mountainview Lodge and to everyone else who has offered kind words, support, food, flowers and visits during such a difficult time of loss.

Mom...

Could you come back and stay awhile, I want to hear your voice and see you smile. I want to hold you tight and never let you go and tell you how much

I love you so.

A small celebration to honour our Mom will be held later in the fall.
